Day 1
Home - Cootamundra
Our coach departs The Hunter, making its way to Sydney Airport where our Queensland passengers will join. Day 2
Cootamundra - Good Old Days Festival - Griffith
Today we travel to Barellan and spend the day at the Good Old Days Festival. The festival is the largest gathering of harnessed draught animals - horses, bullocks, camels, donkeys, mules and goats - in Australia. This volunteer run, not-for- profit event contributes funds back into the regional community and showcases early farming practices including horse and bullock drawn ploughs, binders, wool wagons and a mallee roller. The Good Old Days Festival also celebrates the iconic water cart with a Furphy Festival featuring rebarrelling demonstrations. Purchase your own morning tea and lunch while at the festival today. This afternoon, we make our way to Griffith to settle in for the next three nights.
Day 3
Griffith Town and Farm Tours
After breakfast, visit the local Rotary Markets before visiting the Information Centre with its interpretive display, audio visual display and stain glassed window. A guided town tour will then highlight the history of the Griffith area and include viewing Walter Burley Griffin's city layout from the top of a panoramic vantage point. This afternoon, visit Catania Fruit Salad Farm - the oldest working farm in the district, for a guided tour. We then stop at Morella Grove, where we meet another family who have a passion for excellence in their produce. Hear stories about farming olives and the production processes behind this delicious fruit, before concluding with a tasting of their award-winning products at the cellar door.
Day 4
Leeton Town and Farm Tours
After breakfast, we'll make our way to Leeton, an active Murrumbidgee town where a local tour guide will reveal points of interest. Enjoy lunch at a local club before visiting Lillypilly Estate, a boutique winery where there'll be opportunity to taste some of their award-winning wines. Enjoy lunch at a local club before travelling on to Goulburn, Australia's first inland city, for our overnight stay.
